Abstract
[Objective] The aim of the study was to confirm the species and the major biological characteristics of the pathogen of sclerotinia rot on Salvia splenden in Zhongshan City,Guangdong Province.[Method] The pathogen of sclerotinia rot on Salvia splendens was purified, the morphology, pathogenicity, the major biological and molecular biological characteristics of the pathogen were studied.[Result] The study showed that the pathogen could grow in several kinds of culture media. The temperature for mycelium growth ranged from 5 to 30 ℃ and the optimum growth temperature ranged from 20 to 25 ℃;among the tested carbon and nitrogen sources, glucose was the most useful carbon type, ammonium sulfate was the most favorable nitrogen source for mycelium growth;mycelium could grow at pH 2 to 9,and the optimum ranged from 3 to 6.Several fungicides were selected as inhibitor to mycelium growth.[Conclusion] It was the first report in mainland of China that Sclerotinia sclerotiorum(Lib.) de Bary was identified as the pathogen to sclerotinia rot on Salvia splendens.
