Abstract
Objective: To investigate the parenting behavior,parenting locus of control and family function of children with oppositional defiant disorder(ODD).Methods: The subjects came from a sample survey of psychiatric disorders for primary and middle school students in six regions in Hunan Province.The Parenting Locus of Control Scale(PLOC) was filled out by parents.The Egna Minnen Betraffande Uppfostran(EMBU) and Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scale,the Second Edition(FACESII-CV) were completed by children themselves.Results: The scores of EMBU were all significantly higher in ODD group than in the control,except for the emotional warmth of the father and mother subscales(P0.05);and the scores of the parental efficacy,child control of parents' life and parental control of child's behavior of the PLOC scales were significantly higher in ODD group(P0.01).In addition,there were significant differences of the cohesion now,adaptability now and adaptability desired between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusion: The parents of children with ODD have external PLOC.Their parenting behaviors were inappropriate and the cohesion and adaptability of their family were low.
