Experimental Allergic Thyroiditis In Chicken

SINCE Rose and Witebsky's1 demonstration of the auto-allergic disease affecting the thyroid gland of the rabbit, experimental allergic thyroiditis has been demonstrated in a number of mammalian species. However, auto-allergic lesions of the thyroid has not been heretofore produced in non-mammalian species. The work recorded here deals with the induction of thyroiditis in chickens by means of homologous thyroid tissue in complete Freund's adjuvant.
