Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the characteristics of cerebrospinal fluid(CSF) routine cytology testing in diagnosis of different intracranial infectious diseases so as to provide basis for the clinical diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis prediction.METHODS The results of the CFS testing and the clinical data of 124 patients with intracranial infections who were treated in the hospital from Jan 2000 to Dec 2011 were retrospectively analyzed.RESULTS The CSF of 32 cases with viral encephalitis changed slightly. The purulent meningitis patients with the critical elevated blood cell count in the CSF accounted for 62.5%,the patients with the elevated protein in CSF accounted for 80.0%,and the patients with the decreased glucose and the patients with decreased chlorides accounted for 75% and 54%,respectively;the CSFC of tuberculosis meningitis appeared as the mixture reaction of WBC count.CONCLUSION The result of the CSF testing for the patients with different intracranial infectious diseases has great significance in diagnosis of intracranial infections, development of disease, treatment or the prognosis predication.
