Abstract
To recognize the burning behavior of straw with different fire sizes, the combustion characteristics of straw were studied by using cone calorimeter and thermogravimetry analysis(TGA),whereby various fire parameters were measured including the ignition time, heat release rate, and rate of carbon monoxide production. The test results showed that with the increase of radiation intensity, the straw underwent the transition from smoldering to flaming combustion, with increase of heat and smoke release rates, which decreased the ignition time and the release rare of CO and other gases. The reactions of straw during various temperature conditions were clarified, whereby the characteristics and reaction mechanism of straw ignition in different radiation intensities by TGA are interpreted.
