Abstract
The surface crystallization induced in the amorphous alloy Fe 81.5 B 13.5 Si 3 C 2 by thermal or thermomagnetic treatment at temperatures from 340 to 440°C was studied by exoelectron emission spectroscopy and magnetic measurements. It was found that, in the range 360–390°C, the coercivity and remanence of the alloy pass through a minimum, while the differential permeability shows a maximum. The results are interpreted in terms of the stresses developing during crystallization and their effect on the magnetic anisotropy.
