Abstract
In this paper, we report the initial results of the experimental study for the first Compton free electron laser in China. The relativistic electron beam of 22 MeV was injected into SmCo5 permanent magnetic undulator with 3 cm period and total period number 98 by an RF LINAC. We obtain free electron radiation of which the average power over 1 μs macroscopic electron beam pulse train is 1·4 W at 10 μm
