摘要
Put forward more than three decades ago as an alternative to conventional shell-model calculations, the Kerman-Klein method has proved feasible previously only when applied to unrealistically small configuration spaces or when phenomenological simplifications have been superposed. Starting from a spherical shell-model Hamiltonian, we describe a fully microscopic calculation, free of the above limitations, of the properties of the ground-state band of a typical deformed rare-earth nucleus, Gd-158.
