Detection of melting in release for a shock-loaded tin sample using the reflectivity measurement method

A densitometric analysis of an interferogram given by a Doppler Laser Interferometry diagnostic (D.L.I.) allows us to evidence melting in release of strongly shocked materials. The shock generator is a powder gun 60 mm in diameter. For tin samples, we conclude to a solid-liquid phase transition in release at a 235 kbar shock pressure.
