Abstract
Objective:To observe the pharmacological action of Kening Fang (KF,咳宁方)for antitusaive and antiasthmatic effect in experimental guinea pig. Methods:The goinea pigs were allocated randomly to 7 groups(10 guinea pigs in each group)with experimental cough(EC)and experimental asthma(EA)individual- ly.The EC was classified to normal control group(NCG),codeine group(CG), Shedan Chuanbei Ye(蛇胆川贝液)group(SCYG),high dose KF I group(HK IG),low dose KF I group(LK IG),high dose KFⅡgroup(HKⅡG)and low dose KFⅡgroup(LKⅡG).Citric acid spraying induction was apphed to induce cough in guinea pigs. The frequency cough from the beginning of spray to incubation period of cough and 5 after suspension of spray were observed. In EA positive controI group was given with aminophylline, the other groups was same as CG.Histamine and acecoline spraying were applied to induce asthma to observe the inbubation period from the be- ginning of spray to the occurrence of asthma. Results:The incubation period of cough in every medicinal group was markedly prolonged and the frequency of cough was markedly decreased, the differences being siguifieant(P<0.05),P<0.01)as compared with NCG.The differences between different dose of KF groups and SCYG were significant(P<0.05,P<0.01),and that between LK IIG and LK IG was sig- nificant(P<0.05).The incubatinn period of asthma in various medicinal groups,es- pecially aminophyllin were markedly prolonged(P<0.01)as compared with NCG, the comparison of HK IG and HK IlG with SCYG showed significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion:KF possesses marked antiltussive and antiasthmatic effect.
