Abstract
Objective To investigate the value of CT in diagnosis of gastrointestinal stromal and smooth muscle-derived tumors. Methods Analysed the CT appearances of 15 cases of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (all confirmed by immunohistochemistry) and 7 cases of smooth muscle-derived tumors (2 of which confirmed by immunohistochemistry ) confirmed by surgeries and pathology. Results From CT appearances we can see that if the mass occurred under submucosa, the density of all benign tumors is uniform and the boundary is clear, while the malignant tumors may have cystic degeneration, the boundary is unclear, and could involve the surrounding tissue. There are no significant differences in the point of location, size, shape, growth pattern, lymph node metastasis, density, boundary,CT enhanced performance and cystic change between gastrointestinal stromal tumors and smooth muscle-derived tumors. Conclusions ①CT has a great value on the diagnosis of gastrointestinal stromal tumors and smooth muscle-derived tumors; ②From the performance of the CT gastrointestinal stromal tumors and smooth muscle-derived tumors can not be distinguished,so the confirmed diagnosis need rely on immunohistochemistry and electron microscopy.
