Abstract
To compare the biological characteristics of KK-Ay/Ta mice in growth curve, glucose metabolism, serum insulin, weight of major organs, and organ coefficient with C57BL/6JSlac mice as the control group, then explore the morphologic changes of kidney,liv-er and pancreas. The result showed: 1.The weight, glucose and serum insulin in KK-Ay/Ta mice were higher than the control group at the same age(P0.01).2.The heart and pancreas showed significant difference(P0.05).Between KK-Ay/Ta and C57BL/6JSlac male mice, the liver, spleen, kidney, fat showed high significant difference(P0.01).And there were high significant difference in every or-gan and fat weight of female mice.3.The glomerulus hyaline degeneration, capillary basement membrane incrassation and hyaline cast in renal tubules were also observed in KK-Ay/Ta.The liver appeared significant adipose degeneration, cell putrescence,inflam-matory cell infiltration and fibroplastic proliferation. At the same time, the number of glomeruli pancreatici and islet cells decreased obviously. The results shows that the KK-Ay/Ta mice exhibits hyperglycemia, high insulin resistance, insufficiency of islet function, renal and hepatic alterations, which makes it with obesity as a suitable disease model for studying type 2 diabetes mellitus.
