Portal Hypertension Secondary to Primary Myelofibrosis: a Case Report and Review of Literatures

Objective:To investigate the clinical manifestations of the patients with portal hypertension secondary to primary myelofibrosis(PMF).Methods:The clinical data of one patient with portal hypertension secondary to PMF was analyzed,and the related literatures were reviewed.Results: The patient had the clinical manifestations of portal hypertension such as ascites,splenomegaly and establishment of collateral circulation.However,his liver function was normal;peripheral blood leukocytes and platelets were not reduced;bone marrow biopsy showed fibroplasia.Conclusions: Clinicians should raise the awareness that portal hypertension may be induced by PMF.In order to avoid misdiagnosis,the patients with portal hypertension should undergo bone marrow aspiration and biopsy routinely,if their liver function is close to normal and hypersplenism is not obvious.
