Síndrome de Reiter: reporte de un caso

Reiter's syndrome is a condition that appears after urogenital, intestinal infections, or infections at other sites, in genetically predisposed HLA-B27 individuals. These infections trigger immunologic reactions responsible for cutaneous, mucosal, ocular and visceral symptomatology. The incidence is higher in men ages 20 and 40 years. We report a 6 years-old patient with erosive lesions on glans penis and mucopurulent urethral discharge, erythematous plaques in the anal region, fever and arthritis in the left ankle and his knees. Three weeks before the consultation he presented with a urinary tract infection and conjunctivitis, that were treated with systemic and local antibiotics respectively. Laboratory tests revealed elevated acute-phase reactants and positive HLA-B27. Sexually transmitted diseases, urinary tract infection, septic arthritis, and other infectious foci were excluded. No etiologic agent was identified. He received ibuprofen and later prednisone with remission to date.
