Removal of arsenic from water by modified natural zeolite and chitosan

A composite adsorbent was prepared from the combination of chitosan and natural zeolite.The natural zeolite(80 meshes) was added in chitosan slurry of 90% the degree of deacetylation to prepare adsorbent which mass ratio is 1∶1.2.Its adsortivity toward arsenic was studied and results show that with 15 g/L of the adsorbent dosage,the mass concentration of arsenic in wastewater not exceeding 300 mg/L,7-8 of pH value,about 20 min of adsorption equilibrium time,the largest sorption capacity can be 8.1 mg/g and arsenic removal efficiency be 99%.
