Abstract
ESR and TL methods are used to investigate cubic ZnS single crystals. At 104 to 153 K in iron containing ZnS crystals, the TL is shown to be connected with the thermal ionization of Fe+ centres according to the reaction Fe+ + kT Fe2+ + e−. Various thermal stabilities of Fe+ centres are supposed to be conditioned by crystal field distortions around the Fe+ ion. The character of the distortion is determined by the high-temperature heating conditions and the cooling rate of ZnS crystals. The activation energy of Fe+ centres is estimated.
