Relevance of moderate isolated thrombopenia as a strong predictive marker of cirrhosis in patient with chronic hepatitis C virus

TO THE EDITOR: The main hepatological consequence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, progressing to cirrhosis and its complications, has only been assessed so far on the basis of liver biopsy. Noninvasive markers are required for predicting the presence of any histological damage that may have occurred during the course of chronic hepatitis C.
