Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of 12-weeks treatment with diacerein in patients with knee osteoarthritis,and the carry-over effect 8 weeks after treatment.Methods:Patients with knee osteoarthritis (n=50) were treated with diacerein for 12 weeks,and then followed up for 8 weeks after termination of treatment.Results:WOMAC scores were significantly improved after 12 weeks of treatment (P0.05).Remarkable carry-over effects were observed in 4 weeks and 8 weeks after termination of treatment.No severe side effects were observed.Conclusion:Diacerein is effective and safe in treating knee osteoarthritis,and shows a remarked long-term carry-over effect.
