Design and Establishment of a Remote Monitoring System for Implantable Cardiac Devices: The MonashHeart Experience

Introduction: Implantation of cardiac rhythm management devices (PPM/ICD) is increasing with broadening indications and ease of implantation. Routine follow-up through clinic visits utilises significant resources. PPM/ICD with remote monitoring capability can automatically send data and alerts via the internet for clinical review. This technology is widely used overseas, but not commonly in Australia.
