Oxytocin-induced Allergic Response:Literature Review

OBJECTIVE:To probe into the occurrence of Oxytocin-induced allergic response.METHODS:Oxytocin-induced allergic response reported in Chinese Journal Full-text Database and Chinese Science and Technology Journals Full-text Database from 1994 to 2009 were analyzed statistically.RESULTS:Oxytocin-induced allergic response manifested predominantly as common allergic reactions followed by anaphylaxis shock and drug fever.It was often misdiagnosed as amniotic fluid embolism on account of its diversified clinical symptoms.Rapid administration of large doses of Oxytocin was responsible for the allergic response.CONCLUSION:Clinicians should attach great importance to Oxytocin-induced allergic response by asking patients about their allergy history and using drugs safely and reasonably.
