The Other Side of Day-to-day Living in the City——A comment on Happiness written by Jia Ping-wa

Happiness written by Jia Ping-wa depicts a group of special people living on scraps-collecting.The novel displays a kind of life in penury,which is the other side of a rich city,the bitter experience of farmer laborers during which their souls have been eaten up,and the mental dilemma of those farmer laborers which has been under cross-examination. The author shows his great concern about the Chinese peasants in the modernized context and the issues about the relation between the city and the countryside.
