Technique for Dynamic Observation of Electrolytic Growth Of Dendritic Metal Crystals

ABSTRACT A technique is described for dynamical observation of growing metal dendrites in electrodeposition of metals. The growing dendrites are exhibited at high magnification on a closed-circuit video monitor screen by means of a small television camera operating through a binocular microscope. The construction of the system is described and the relevance of observation of morphology of growing dendrites to problems in electro-plating and advanced battery technology is indicated.
