摘要
There is an inseparable interconnection between physical and mental health. Mental health impacts on health risk behaviors, mental problems affect physical health, diseases may attack both the brain and body, physical ailments may impact on mental functioning, mental disorder may influence the course of physical disease, and medication given for the treatment of both mental and physical health problems may affect the other. The biopsychosocial model is used as the framework to understand these interrelationships. Somatization, chronic pain, HIV/AIDS, cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, and mental illness are used to illustrate the body–mind interactions.
