Clinical experience of laparoscopic surgery in urology: Report of 326 cases

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of laparoscopic surgery for the treatment of urologic diseases and summarize the experience. Methods From March 2006 to April 2010, 326 patients underwent laparoscopic surgery in our department. Among them, 148 cases underwent varicocelectomy, 45 cases renal cyst deroofing, 72 cases ureterolithotomy, 15 cases high ligation of vaginal process, 7 cases renal hilar lymphatic ligation, 10 cases nephrectomy, 10 cases dismembered pyeloplasty, 10 cases adrenal tumorectomy, 6 cases radical nephrectomy, 2 cases orchidopexy, 1 case ureteroplasty and ureterocystanastomosis. Results The operations of 322 cases were accomplished sucessfully. 4 case were converted to traditional open surgery. The operation time was 12 to 270 minutes. The blood loss was 2 to 500 ml. Hospital stay duration was 2 to 11 days. No severe complications occurred in this group. Conclusion Laparoscopic surgery has advantages of minimal invasion, less complications, rapid postoperative recovery and shorter hospital stay, which has satisfactory effect on the treatment of urologic diseases and has a great application value in the urologic clinical practice.
