The relationship of PTEN expression with gastric carcinogenesis and differentiation

Objective:To investigate the relationship of the expression of PTEN with gastric tumorigenesis and differentiation. Methods: Detect the expression of PTEN with immunohistochemistry method in gastric carcinoma,precancerous lesion and normal mucosa. Results: The positive rate of PTEN expression in gastric cancer was 53.3%,which was lower than normal mucosa.PTEN was less expressed in poor-undifferentiated group than well-moderately group(P 0.01).However,there were no differences in the PTEN expression between well-moderately gastric cancers and precancerous lesions(P0.05). Conclusions: PTEN is tightly associated with gastric cancer differentiation,thus it may be an objective marker for malignant level.
