Serum D-Dimer Level in Aged Patients with Pneumonia

Objective To investigate the change of serum D-dimer(DD)level in the aged patients with pneumonia.Methods Totally 30 aged patients with pneumonia were divided as severe pneumonia group(n=12)and non-severe group(n=18)according to Fine's risk classification,and 20 health persons were concurrently enrolled as the controls.The serum DD level was measured and the results were compared.Results The serum DD level was(1.06±0.19)mg/L in severe pneumonia group,(0.88±0.16)mg/L in non-severe pneumonia group and(0.35±0.18)mg/L in control group.There were significant differences among the three groups(P0.05),there was significant difference between the pneumonia patients and the controls(P0.05),and there also significant difference between the severe pneumonia group and non-severe pneumonia group(P0.05).Conclusion The serum DD level may be related to the severity of pneumonia in aged patients.
