Studies in the human metabolism of allylisobutylbarbituric acid

Summary  The metabolism of allylisobutylbarbituric acid (I) has been studied in two volunteers at a single dose-level, and in a third volunteer at two different dose levels. Unchanged drug was excreted in the urine (3.4–6.6% of dose). The diol (II) was the only detected urinary metabolite, accounting for a further 21–61% of the dose. The kinetics of the elimination processes are discussed.
