Abstract
This study was carried out to investigate the environmental effects and estimate the genetic parameter on final score in Hanwoo cows. The data for this study were the conformation score for 31,872 high grade registration cows and heifers from 309 sires which evaluated by the Korean Animal Improvement Association for one year in 2004. Conformation score would be significantly affected by classifier, year of birth and appraisal season. The difference of final score would be most highly affected by classifier among these environmental effects. This result indicated that standardizing system for linear type scoring rules would be needed. The heritabilities for conformation score were estimated by Half-sib correlation from ANOVA, single-trait REML and multiple-traits REML method. The estimated heritabilities for conformation score were 0.038, 0.001 and 0.034 via Half-sib correlation from ANOVA, single-trait REML and multiple-traits REML method respectively and it was found that estimated heritabilities were lower than other literatures.
