Lumbar Facet Joint Motion in Patients with Discogenic Low Back Pain

It has been suggested that degenerative disc disease (DDD) adversely affect the biomechanical behavior of the facet joints. Altered facet joints motions, in turn, have been though to be associated with various types of lumbar spine pathology including facet degeneration and neural impingement. However, to date no data has been reported on the motion patterns of the lumbar facet joints in DDD patients.
