Abstract
Objective To explore a method to promote success rate of the placement of peripherally inserted central catheter(PICC) and reduce occurrence rates of complications such as local errhysis and mechanical phlebitis, etc. in patients with liver diseases. Methods Totally 146 patients receiving the placement of simple PICC and 138 undergoing the placement of PICC under the guidance of B mode ultrasonography were enrolled in this study as the control group and the experimental group, respectively. The two kinds of placement of PICC was conducted by a group with fixed members and the judging criteria were the same. The success rate of placing PICC and occurrence rates of local errhysis and mechanical phlebitis were compared between the 2 groups. Results The success rates of placing PICC were 91.2% and 100%, the occurrence rates of grade Ⅲ local errhysis 11.6% and 4.3%,and the occurrence rates of mechanical phlebitis 13.7% and 0 in the control group and the experimental group, respectively. The differences in the 3 indexes were significant between the 2 groups(P0.05). Conclusions Performance of placing PICC under the guidance of B mode ultrasonography can effectively promote the success rate of placing PICC and significantly reduce the occurrence rates of local errhysis and mechanical phlebitis in patients with liver diseases.
