Abstract
The leaf characters were analyzed for 8 flue-cured tobacco varieties and their 28 F 1 crosses. The results indicated that:(1)The correlation coefficient between average of crosses' number of leaves and parents average was significant at 5% probability level,to a certain extent,it could predicate the number of leaves for F 1 crosses by using parents average.(2)Number of leaves was mainly controlled by additive effects, dominance effects were the major genetic component for length of leaves, width of leaves and area of leaves.(3)The additive effects values of number of leaves were higher for Parents P2(K326),P3(Yunyan 87)and P1(G80).The additive effects values of P8(Honghuadajinyuan)were higher for length of leaves, width of leaves and area of leaves.Improvement of these characters could make use of these varieties. The number of leaves, width of leaves and area of leaves of P8(Jingyehuang)had highly negative additive effects,it showed that the variety was unfit for improving these characters.
