The effect of a strongly interacting Higgs sector within an SU(2) × U(1) gauge theory

The low-energy sensitivity of the Weinberg-Salam model to a strongly interacting Higgs boson sector is investigated. In order to catalog all possible heavy Higgs boson effects, a gauged non-linear σ-model is used, in which the Higgs mass of the linear theory (MH), assumes the role of a cutoff. Radiative corrections to several experimental observables are calculated. However, the effects are small; the leading sensitivities are proportional to g2ln(MH).
