Detection of multicolored asian lady beetle Harmonia axyridis allergens in their blood

allergens (Greer) were used for testing.Test materials were added to the plates along with the polyclonal Ab.After washing, Ab bound on the CR debris was detected using peroxidase-conjugated goat anti-rabbit antibody.RESULTS: The standards (0.02 to 200 gg of CR debris) produced an average 8 to 80% inhibition (3 runs).American and german CR extracts inhibited by 34 and 39%, respectively.This may be due to relatively low antigen concentrations in these extracts or to incomplete representation of CR debris proteins in the whole-body extract.All other extracts produced < 14% inhibition except for alternaria (31%).CONCLUSIONS: With one exception, which will require further evaluation, common allergens did not inhibit CR antigen detection by this assay.
