Abstract
Introduction: We present a case of massive expression of polytopic bone metastasis after palliative transurethral resection (TUR) of obstructive prostate carcinoma. Case report: A 62-year-old patient with T3 adenocarcinoma of the prostate was treated with bilateral orchiectomy. Six years after primary diagnosis an intraprostatic stent was inserted because of subvesical obstruction. Due to dislocation, the stent had to be removed and palliative TUR was performed subsequently. At this time his disease was stable. Nine months later the patient developed polytopic bone metastasis and died. Conclusion: The possible negative influence of TUR in patients with obstructive prostate carcinoma has been discussed controversely. In the present case, palliative TUR might have promoted progression.
