Abstract
This paper describes the details of a rf chopping and klystron type of bunching system for the generation of short-duration ion bursts in a neutron time-of-flight facility at a 150 kV-cascade accelerator. The measurements show that this system can produce very intensive D+-ion bursts with a duration of less than 2.5 nsec at a T-Zr-target for production of neutron bursts by the T(d,n)-4He-reaction. In practice this means that a higher neutron intensity may be employed in scattering experiments than by the associated particle method.
