NIR-Messsystem zur Erkennung von Verunreinigungen in Rohbaumwolle (NIR-Measurement System to Detect Foreign Matter in Row Cotton)

The detection of foreign matter in raw cotton is a fundamental issue in quality assurance for the textile industry. Usually it is based on evaluating the color contrast between cotton and foreign matter in the visible range of the light. However, the detection of white and transparent foils is difficult. This paper reports on a measurement system operating in the range of the near infrared radiation that is capable of detecting this kind of foreign matter.
