摘要
Summary The 60 positron bunches are to be singly removed from the storage ring by means of the fast kicker mag- net described here. The 42 nsec. bunch spacing in the storage ring determines maximum values for the rise time and total pulse length in the kicker of 30 nsec. and 84 nsec. respectively. The maximum pulse length requirement may be relaxed to 126 nsec. if one of the 60 bunches is sacrificed and the remaining bunches removed in sequence. The required deflection angle is :.55rn;ad and the allowed space for the fast kicker is . . Hence a 266 gauss kicker field is required to stack an 8 GeV beam. A further requirement is that the kicker field penetrate a thin metal film-coated ceramic vacuum chamber, as discussed in the last sec- tion. Descriptions of existing and proposed kicker magnets, and excitation schemes, may be found in Reference 2.
