139: Reducing Adverse Neurological Events in LVAD Patients: Pulsatile vs. Continuous Flow?

Adverse neurological events (ANE) during LVAD support often result in significant morbidity or mortality of patients. As the durable LVAD technology platform is changing from a pulsatile to a continuous flow pump, its potential impact on ANE could be significant. Therefore, we performed a retrospective review of a multi-institutional database to compare the incidence of ANE in pulsatile v. continuous flow LVAD.
