Study on the Influence of High Temperature Region at Slag Bath Center to the Electrode's Melting in the Electroslag Casting Process

Electroslag casting is a casting method that makes the se lf-consumable electrode melts in the high temperature slag bath by strong curren t.The thermal field of the slag bath determines the electrode's melting rate,purification rate and the ingot's microstructure directly.It is the key region in the casting system.In this paper,the reverse casting experiment and the tr ue and false electrode casting have been done to study the slag bath's temperat ure field.At the same time it has been researched by numeric simulation method.A focus high temperature region between the electrode's end and the molten poo l has been discovered.The high temperature region will improve the electrode's melting rate.
