Abstract
There is an ongoing debate on the optimal temporal approach of surgical stabilization of femoral fractures in polytrauma patients with head injury. These patients have been shown to be vulnerable to hypoxemia and hypotension, which may lead to secondary brain injury. In this study we evaluated the effect of femoral fracture and its early stabilization on the morbidity and mortality of adult polytrauma patients with concomitant head injury.
