Dielectric behaviour of dry montmorillonite discs

The dielectric constant and dielectric loss of oven-dry homoionic montmorillonite discs saturated with Na, K, Mg and Ca were obtained from admittance measurements as functions of frequency in the range 6–65 535 Hz. Orientational, interfacial and distortional polarization types were identified in the behaviour of the dielectric in certain frequency ranges and their relaxation times were calculated. The frequency ranges were different from those determined earlier for discs containing 3% water.
