Abstract
Last month’s column introduced the subject of imaging informatics at the National Cancer Institute (NCI). This segment focuses on the broader effort of integrating the cancer research infrastructure. The integration is complex and demanding. Imaging is a critical component. The specific focus of this column is the development by the NCI of the Cancer Bioinformatics Grid (caBIG) and associated working groups, most important the In Vivo Imaging Workspace [ 1 National Cancer Institute. Welcome to the caBIG Web site. Available at: http://cabig.nci.nih.gov/. Google Scholar , 2 National Cancer Institute. Workspaces & working groups. Available at: http://cabig.nci.nih.gov/workspaces. Google Scholar , 3 National Cancer Institute. In vivo imaging. Available at: http://cabig.nci.nih.gov/workspaces/Imaging/. Google Scholar ]. The overarching purpose of caBIG is in support of the NCI’s 2015 challenge goal to eliminate the suffering and death due to cancer by that date.
