摘要

•No open-source system CMP simulator allows simulating the NoC and the prefetchers.•We describe how to develop a prefetching module for the gem5 CMP simulator.•We have carried out a detailed analysis of the behavior of three prefetching engines.•We demonstrate the necessity of considering the network effect in prefetch studies.•Not considering the network may lead to low accuracy and wrong conclusions.
