Filament Perforation Subarachnoid Hemorrhage: Mouse Model
Springer Protocols HandbooksAnimal Models of Acute Neurological Injuries(2009)
摘要
The filament perforation subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) mouse model mimics a clinical situation with aneurysmal SAH in humans.
In this model, subarachnoid clot induces vasospasm, which has a peak at 3 days after SAH. Moreover, a sudden increase in intracranial
pressure immediately after the arterial perforation induces cortical neuronal damage similar to aneurysmal SAH in humans.
Therefore, this model is suitable for researches on the various pathophysiologies of SAH. Although uncontrollable volume of
SAH basically causes high mortality rate in this model, our techniques perforating the anterior cerebral artery can lead to
less mortality and relatively reproducible state after SAH. The complications and limitations in this model are also discussed.
