Determination of PCBs in vegetable soil by GC/MS and accelerated solvent extraction

A new method was developed for the determination of 16 PCBs in vegetable soil by accelerated solvent extraction coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.The extraction conditions were optimized.A good extraction efficiency was obtained by using 60% of the extraction cell acetone and hexane as extraction solvent,extracting for 5 min.The calibration curves for 16 PCBs all had good linear relationships with correlation coefficients not less than 0.993.The spiked recoveries ranged from 92.1% to 104.3% with relative standard deviations of 2.5%～7.7%.The limits of detection were in the range of 0.24～1.82 ng·mL-1.The method was applied in the determination for PCBs in vegetable soil with satisfactory results.
