Abstract
Low-spin states of Au-184 have been studied using the beta(+)/EC decay of 184 Hg. gamma-ray and conversion-electron singles spectra were recorded with 184 Hg mass-separated sources. For gamma-gamma-t and X-gamma-t coincidence measurements, mercury nuclei were produced in the Sm-148 + Ar-40 reaction and transported by a He-jet system. The electron spectra were recorded from. Hg-184 sources produced at ISOLDE. A level scheme of Au-184 including 48 transitions is proposed. The experimental results are interpreted in the frame of a semi-microscopic axial-rotor-plus-two-quasiparticle model developed in the context of the HF+BCS approximation.
