Abstract
CASE HISTORY: This is a case report regarding a 36 yr old female with ongoing urticaria and diffuse nonspecific rash. Her history was negative for new medications, different foods, soaps or other changes. She initially denied any medication or supplements added on a daily basis. METHODS: Her lab evaluation was negative for ANA, anti-TPO, H. Pylori, or other findings. Due to the nonspecific portion of her rash patch testing was applied and was mildly positive for nickel, only. Further history was elicited and she was asked to write down any ingestants, and upon review was noted to have been taking the herbal product “Airborne.” RESULTS: skin testing was positive to a solution of the product “Airborne” which was ground up and soaked in diluent and measured against pos and neg controls. We were unable to obtain individual ingredients to test seperately. CONCLUSION: It is imperative that all patients with skin findings be asked about all supplements and vitamins in detail.
