摘要
It is commonly believed that the serum acid phosphatase is elevated after a routine rectal examination. In a study involving 75 patients, it was noted that rectal examination had no significant effect on the diagnostic accuracy of serum acid phosphatase in patients with benign prostatic hypertrophy, carcinoma of the prostate, nor in the individual controls. There is, therefore, no justification for postponing estimation of serum acid phosphatases after rectal examination.
