Abstract
Irradiation of Mortonin C ( 1a ) produced the photoproducts 4a and 8a as a result of a photochemically induced ring contraction of the tetrahydro-oxepine nucleus. The structure and stereochemistry of 4a and 8a were proved by chemical degradation and spectroscopic analysis.
