摘要
RhO(D) immune globulin (RhoGAM) was administered to Rh negative women within 72 hours after they had given birth to Rh positive, ABO compatible infants to prevent Rh immunization. Two studies, differing only in the dose of anti-Rh immune globulin administered, have shown almost complete prevention of Rh immunization whereas in a group of Rh negative mothers who were not treated, and who were comparable by age, race, gravidity, and ABO blood group, the incidence of Rh immunization was 7%. This represents the first successful application of the concept of antibody-mediated immune suppression in humans to prevent disease.
